DPI and Public Service Commission Partner to Help Improve High Speed Internet Connectivity

Technology is needed now more than ever in our schools and classrooms.  However, many schools are not able to take advantage of these opportunities affordably due to inadequate bandwidth.  Further, not all students have the same equitable opportunities for learning because they may lack access to the Internet at home.  To address these issues, schools districts in Wisconsin are participating in efforts to determine the current status of Internet broadband access and where improvements are needed.  The Department of Public Instruction (DPI) and Public Service Commission of Wisconsin (PSC-W) are partnering to promote a residential and business broadband demand survey from April through May, 2013.   This is part of the larger LinkWisconsin project (http://www.link.wisconsin.gov).  By encouraging parents to complete this survey we hope that we can begin to address the digital divide many of our students throughout the state face and bring the broadband needed in our schools and classrooms.

Surveys for residential and businesses can be accessed at:

SCHOOL REPORT CARDS RELEASED BY DPI:

The Wisconsin Department of Instruction (DPI) has officially released (October 22, 2012) a School Report Card for all public schools in Wisconsin.  The School Report Card will help parents/guardians know how their child's school is doing and where it can improve.  The new report cards will help all Wisconsin public schools get a better picture of how well they help children learn, advance to the next grade, and graduate ready for college and career.  According to DPI the goal of the Report Card is to help every student in a Wisconsin school succeed, graduate, and be ready to pursue further education and a career.

The Northland Pines School District has a lot to offer and prides itself with an excellent staff, an environment rich for learning with a strong curriculum, above state average test scores, and school accountablility report card scores that meet or exceed expectations.  We also offer state of the art technology, many co-curricular offerings and great facilities.
