Each year the Pines Community Wellness Center hold their Senior Olympics in the Northland Pines High School Fieldhouse. All ages – gym members and non-members – are welcome to attend at no cost.
“It started with a desire for class members to socialize with members from different classes to share their love of the holidays while enjoying a little friendly competition,” said Julia Schweer. “It has evolved into a community-wide event that involves an optional charity contribution along with games and the sharing of treats.”
The Northland Pines School District provides free coffee for everyone attending.
Senior Olympics consists of silly physical activity games, much like the ones elementary school children play, lots of laughter, tasty goodies and fellowship.
Attendees need not participate in the games as a cheering section is just as important. Interested parties can call 715-479-4473 to sign up. Last-minute walk-ins are welcome, too.
