Music and drama students at Northland Pines High School will perform the hit musical "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" for three upcoming performances. Show times are Friday, February 16th at 7:00 pm, Saturday, February 17th at 7:00 pm, and Sunday, Feburary 18th at 2:00 pm. Performances will be held in the NPHS Auditorium.
The timeless story of Joseph and his many brothers is filled with memorable music, costumes, joy, and heart. Incorporating different styles of music including pop, rock, country, and tango, this musical follows Joseph as he faces adversity and triumphs with his ability to interpret others' dreams.
Over 50 NPHS students are involved in the cast, crew, and pit orchestra for the musical. Students playing major roles are: Owen Libby as Joseph, Madison Brock, Malia Remme, and Addisan Skarda as the Narrators, Kaemyn Heritage as the Pharaoh, Owen Grassl as Potiphar, Stevie Brown as Mrs. Potiphar, with additional brothers played by Davis Beyer, Riley Moore, Timmy Stoltman, Ike McClelland, Griffin Beyer, Conrad Droby, Cadmen Libby, and Dylan Kleffman. Mr. Jeffery Libby will portray the patriarch, Jacob. Many other students will perform as wives, Egyptians, and Canaanites. A group of Northland Pines fourth and fifth grade students will perform as the Children's Chorus.
Many additional students are involved as tech crew including Nicholas Fluegel (Sound Designer), Grace Indermuehle (Lighting Designer), Bella Bresher and Miles Kirschbaum (Spotlights), Larissa Page (Stage Manager) and Kira Sandberg (Prop Manager), along with a student group of stage crew members.
The live pit orchestra, under the direction of Jennifer Anderson, includes NPHS students Natalie Simac, Chloe Tabbert, Matt Milanowski, Nolan Warner, Ike McClelland, and Eliza Brunton. The pit orchestra also includes adult players Rachel Strong, Bethany Puffer, Norma Yaeger, Linda Bender, Cindy Nelson, Kristyn Lohoff, Maya Woods, Peter Stoltman, and Peter Aerts.
The NPHS musical is directed by Kate Janssen, with assistant directing and choreography by Ann Perry, pit orchestra direction by Jennifer Anderson, and acting coaching by Jeffery Libby, costuming by Judy Clure, hair and make-up design by Amy Price, technical direction by Jeff Janssen, set construction by Gary Schwenn of Shiloh Construction, and set painting by Lou Deditz, Char Croker, and Karly Kolehouse. Advertising, social media and graphic design was provided by Ashley Heid, Samantha Thompson, Laurie Edwards, Kristi Martin, and Liquid Screen Design.
"We are so lucky to be producing a 15th annual NPHS musical production this year" says Janssen. "The students have been working hard to bring this fully-sung-through musical to life, and we have enjoyed connecting with this timeless story of forgiveness, family, and keeping hope during dark time. Audiences of all ages will love the costumes, staging and choreography that bring such a wide variety of musical styles to life on the stage."
Tickets fo the Feburary 16, 17, and 18th productions are now on sale in the NPHS Main Office. Adult tickets are $5.00, while seniors (62+) and NPSD students are free. Seating is general admission. Remaining tickets will be sold at the door. Doors will open 30 minutes prior to each performance.
The production at Northland Pines will again host three reviewers from the Jerry Awards program through the Overture Center in Madison, who will review the show and provide students with feedback on many aspects of the production. If any students are recognized with nominations for outstanding work, they will be notified later this spring.
