At NPHS, we bring the global classroom to our students!
Eighteen German students departed for Germany, Austria and Switzerland during Spring Break 2019. Our adventure was filled with exciting educational opportunities, where students had the chance to use their German language skills acquired in the classroom in real, daily situations! Students also experienced a connection to world history first-hand. The adventure began once we landed in Frankfurt, Germany where we traveled by bus to the Rothenburg ob der Tauber in Bavaria. After our stay in that medieval village, we traveled on to Munich. Then, we visited the Dachau concentration camp for a memorable educational experience. After a period of reflection, our group went to visit the famous Neuschwanstein Castle. Then, we found our way to Innsbruck, Austria in the heart of Tyrol. Next, we went to Switzerland and a climbed up Mount Pilatus in the Swiss Alps! We returned to Germany by way of the Rhine Falls and the Black Forest to visit the largest working cuckoo clock in the world. In Heidelberg, we visited the old castle that was attacked by Napoleon Bonaparte and enjoyed one last group meal at a local restaurant with Heidelberg specialties on the menu. On our last day, we went back to Frankfurt to fly home. Whew! What an adventure!
We would like to thank all of the parents of the traveling students for allowing this opportunity for their children to experience global travel and to immerse themselves in another culture. We would also like to thank the community, friends and extended family members of all participants for their generosity in our fundraisers over the past two years. We could not have done this without you!
We travel every two to three years depending on trip enrollment size. Students should see me, Frau Stuber, if they are interested in participating in a future trip!
