The NPHS Boys Track team had their Track Banquet on May 19, 2013, here are some of the results:
Our MVP was Johnny Schwenn
This year’s captain Johnny Schwenn showed amazing leadership the entire season. Johnny led by example in the off season doing a weekly 400 workout before track even started. He has been to the state meet the last 3 years he has been in track. Johnny holds 5 indoor school records, one outdoor record, and he has two conference records. Johnny was first team all-conference in the 55M dash, 400M indoor, and the 400m outdoor. Johnny is also receiving a plaque for being this year’s Captain. He was voted this year’s Most Valuable Player. Johnny is also receiving an Award this year for scoring over 100 points. This is Johnny’s 4th Centurion Award. With the 160 points he scored this year, he is ranked 3rd on our all-time point scorers’ chart.
Our MIP was John Puffer
Next year’s captain will be Ryan Ozelie
Our Rookie of the year was Kody Godleske
Our Will to Win athlete was Steven Vogel
Our Team Warrior was Devin Sauvola
5 athletes received the Century Award (Scored more than 100 points in a season)
Our Team Scholar was Steven Vogel
To cap off our Regular season we were 52 and 8 (Beat 52 teams lost to 8). In our Conference we were 18 and 6. We defeated all of the conference teams at least once, except for Lakeland which we defeated only once.
We were second place in the Indoor Conference and 3rd place in the outdoor conference meets. We won two invitationals and were second in 5 invitationals.
Today is our Regional Meet, and Thursday is our Sectional meet so hopefully we end up with a presence at the state meet.
