Have you caught the spirit?
We believe that Special Olympics reveals the very best in human nature and character. We feel our families are strengthened and we hopefully help the community at large to accept and respect persons who may be different. It is only through the continued support of people just like you that our local athletes will be able to participate in this program.
A Class A volunteer is one who has direct contact with athletes. Therefore, if you would like to coach, transport athletes, chaperone events or serve as a Committee Member, you must be a Class A volunteer. Please note, we are encouraging family members of future athletes to become Class A Volunteers.
To become a Class A Volunteer for Special Olympics, you must complete the training on your own or participate in a scheduled Group Training. There is a group training November 4, 2015 at the Northland Pines High School Library at 5:00 p.m.
If you decide to complete the training on your own, you will need to complete the following requirements. Go to http://www.specialolympicswisconsin.org Click on Volunteer and scroll down to Become a Volunteer. Be sure to use the exact same name when completing your paperwork and the online trainings. Thanks.
To become a Class A volunteer you need to do the following:
1) Obtain and submit a Class A Volunteer Registration form - contact Jessica Chuckel at firstname.lastname@example.org (REMEMBER to include a copy of your driver?s license when you send in the completed form documenting your training completion.)
2) Complete the online Protective Behaviors test and training **Be sure to save email confirmation**
3) View the General Orientation video and take test.
4) Send completed application along with photo identification to: Special Olympics Wisconsin (address on Class A form)
If you know of any future athletes or others who may be interested in volunteering for our Agency, please feel free to forward on my contact information.
Again, we sincerely thank you for your interest in the Northern Access Special Olympics Agency and Special Olympics Wisconsin. We look forward to your assistance in providing athletic opportunities to individuals with cognitive disabilities.
