Syllabus for Spanish 3
Students of Spanish III will begin the course with a letter to Señora Weber demonstrating previously learned grammar and vocabulary. Spanish III continues to develop the student’s reading, writing, speaking, listening, and comprehension skills in the Spanish language in the present indicative, preterit, simple future, and imperfect tenses. Vocabulary themes for Spanish III will include: promoting a healthy lifestyle through physical activity and healthy eating habits, parts of the body, city and restaurant vocabulary, childhood activities, describing people and places, festivals, giving directions, bargaining in a marketplace, news, weather, and environmental concerns.
Spanish III students will continue to learn about the culture and history of Spanish speaking countries through songs, projects celebrating special festivals, and sampling of authentic foods.
Grammatical concepts to be introduced will include: preterite tense of regular –er and –ir ending verbs, informal commands, preterite tense of irregular verbs such as dar, ver, poder, decir, tener, preterite tense of –ir ending stem changing verbs, saber vs. conocer, the imperfect tense, formal commands, preterit vs. imperfect, double negatives, and If clauses in the present indicative tense.
